From May 2nd, we will be Sparebanken Norge

Sparebanken Sør and Sparebanken Vest are merging to become Sparebanken Norge. Together, we will be a solid bank that remains just as local, with excellent advisors and banking solutions for you.

What does this mean to you?

  • Our online and mobile banking services will continue to operate as usual.
  • You can continue using your accounts, cards, BankID, and other services without any changes.
  • All local branches will remain, and you will keep your advisor.

From May 2nd, 2025, we will have a new logo and name. After this, you will no longer receive communication from us as Sparebanken Vest, but as Sparebanken Norge.

Prices for loans, deposits, and investments will not change during the transition to Sparebanken Norge. If there are any changes in terms, you will receive a separate notice.

Do you have a mortgage with us?

In connection with the merger, the banks' mortgage credit companies, Sparebanken Vest Boligkreditt AS and Sparebanken Sør Boligkreditt AS, will also merge. The mortgage credit merger will not have any practical consequences for your mortgage, except that mortgages currently in Sparebanken Sør Boligkreditt AS will be transferred to Sparebanken Norge Boligkreditt AS, while mortgages currently in Sparebanken Vest Boligkreditt AS will remain there under the new name Sparebanken Norge Boligkreditt AS.

Do you have deposits over two million Norwegian kroner?

The deposit guarantee scheme for Norwegian banks ensures that the money you have in the bank is safe. If you have deposits in both Sparebanken Sør and Sparebanken Vest that together exceed two million Norwegian kroner, you can read about how you will be affected when we become Sparebanken Norge:

Informaiton about the deposit guarantee scheme for norwegian banks in the case of a merge

The deposit guarantee scheme for Norwegian banks is managed by the Norwegian Banks' Guarantee Fund. Norwegian savings and commercial banks are required to be members of the scheme. Deposits in Sparebanken Vest and Sparebanken Sør are currently secured up to NOK 2 million for each depositor. The same guaranteed scheme will apply to deposits in the merged bank.

In the event of a merger, deposits in Sparebanken Vest and Sparebanken Sør will be covered under Sparebanken Norge's deposit guarantee. Depositors who currently have deposits in both banks that together exceed NOK 2 million will not be covered under the deposit guarantee scheme for the excess amount after the merger, unless it concerns specifically designated deposits that provide extended coverage under the Financial Institutions Act § 19-4, second paragraph. Depositors affected by this will be contacted after the merger is completed, with a comprehensive overview of their customer relationship and the relationship with the deposit guarantee. Depositors must also decide whether they wish to distribute deposits to other banks that are members of the deposit scheme, and whether qualified deposits not guaranteed under § 19-4 should be paid out or transferred to another bank, cf. Financial Institutions Act § 12-3, sixth paragraph.

The deposit guarantee scheme for Norwegian banks and the Norwegian Banks' Guarantee Fund are further described in Chapter 19 of the Financial Institutions Act.
